Dr Jarrad Paul

Dr Jarrad Paul is a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in youth and general adult psychiatry. Originally from Esperance, he completed his medical degree and psychiatry training in Western Australia and has worked across public and private mental health services in metropolitan and regional areas. His clinical experience spans acute inpatient, community and specialist settings, including managing complex psychiatric presentations, diagnostic uncertainty and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Jarrad has particular experience in youth mental health and early intervention, including emerging psychiatric disorders and early psychosis. He holds a Professional Certificate in Youth Psychiatry from Orygen, Australia's Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, and has contributed to establishing a youth mental health service.

His clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD assessment and management, substance use disorders and dual diagnosis. He also has experience managing psychotic disorders, eating disorders, trauma-related conditions and personality-related difficulties.

Jarrad has contributed to clinical leadership, medical education, service development and peer-reviewed research exploring ways to improve access to psychiatric treatment in less restrictive settings.

His approach is collaborative, practical and individualised. He values clear communication and shared decision-making, considering each person's developmental history, physical health, relationships and personal goals. He works alongside patients, families and other treating professionals to develop evidence-informed treatment plans incorporating medication, psychological therapies and other supports that are realistic within everyday life.

Jarrad provides both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and welcomes referrals for adolescents aged 16 years and over and adults.
