Referral Process
Marian Centre works in partnership with general practitioners and key service providers to treat people suffering with a comprehensive range of mental health concerns.
For assistance with managing your patients’ mental health concerns, please follow our simple five-step admissions process outlined below.
- Does your patient need a specialist mental health admission?
- Does your patient have Private Health Insurance, DVA Status, WorkCover or the ability to self-fund their admission?
Note: Effective 1 April 2018, Australian Government changes to private health insurance coverage for mental health services will take effect. - If yes, call 1800 540 388 to discuss admission suitability with our Admissions and Assessment Team
- We will confirm the outcome of your patient’s eligibility check and any applicable out-of-pocket expense
- We will confirm your patient’s expected admission date and coordinate the allocation of a Psychiatrist

Inpatient Referrals
Health professionals can refer patients by calling our admissions and assessment team on 1800 540 388.

Day Patient Referrals
Day patient programs are held regularly throughout the year. Please contact our Therapy Liaison Officer (TLO) for specific dates on mrn.tlo@aurorahealth.com.au.

Marian Consulting Rooms- Private Practice Referrals
Item 291 Outpatient Assessments
One-off outpatient mental health assessments made easy.
Our private Psychiatrists situated offsite at the Marian Consulting Rooms offer appointments for Medicare Benefits Scheme Item 291 (one-off) assessment for patients that you manage in your practice.
*Please note: assessments are only available for Privately Insured Patients. Assessments are not available for minors. An appointment with one of our Adolescent Psychiatrists can be arranged by contacting our Consulting Suites directly 08 9486 7399.
